One of the most interesting options, and at the same time often wasted on Android phones, are the widgets. These tools allow us to have at our fingertips very useful functions that streamline the use of mobile, give us instant information and have endless possibilities. However, along with these we often encounter problems with these tools and we do not want them to be repeated in your smartphone. Although some phones have certain peculiarities when dealing with widgets, the truth is that most of the problems and solutions are common to all Android devices, regardless of the version we have. Once you have located your error, try the main solutions or otherwise try to fix it with the rest of the possibilities.

I do not appear on the mobile

The question and query that we find most in social networks and forums has to do with the lack of these on the smartphone, something that should not be a problem in any case, not even when we have installed a new launcher that changes the look. The widgets Android always have to be present, although the reasons why they are not in our mobile and its corresponding solution will change.

They have disappeared without further

In case one or more of the same app have disappeared is the most common and is usually linked to an error of the programmers with the application. Sometimes it is only necessary to pinch the screen or keep your finger pressed on the home screen to reposition the widget in the desired space but sometimes this is not enough.

If after trying the first step we can not access the widgets of a particular app, we will have to go to Google Play and update applications. Then we will restart the mobile and when we turn it on we will repeat the steps given that just by doing this the problem would be solved. But, if this tool still does not appear, it is more than likely that the developer has deleted the app, so we can only try the same steps later.

Move the application to the internal memory

However, if we wanted to save internal space of the smartphone and have chosen to move the application to the phone’s microSD card, this will be our main drawback. Although it will be easy to fix, we will only have to put the app back in the device storage. To do this, go to Settings > Apps and notifications > select the app you want to move > Storage > Change > select from SD card to Internal memory. In this way, the data will reappear and, therefore, already we can see the widget.

Does not load on the phone

Another of the most common problems and errors with widgets that causes it does not appear as it should is due to a failure with this own software. This can appear in those that we already have placed and in those that we add new ones. The problem can make that this software is shown without information or in other cases to make it disappear. In these situations we will have to touch in the own widget and sometimes it will take us to its complete configuration so that it can work. In other circumstances we have to access the software app to configure some step that is pending and until we do not do it, this tool will not work. Of course, we can resort to update the app in question, which sometimes also solves this problem.

The failure with the size

If in our case the problem is due to the size of a widget, it will cause that we can not add it on the home screen and we will see this message ‘No space left on the home screen’. This is very easy to solve, we will only have to create a new tab in home, something that is done when trying to add a new one in the desktop panel of the mobile. Therefore, we will drag it to the right side of the screen, this will make a new tab is born. If you want to place the widget next to another and without adding new windows, we can also adapt the size of some of these elements, and although not all are compatible, but, instead, in some if we keep it pressed once added, we can resize it to occupy us less or more space.

It is impossible to add them on Android

For all those cases in which we can add them to the home screen, we have to check that we do not have the design locked, something common in customization layers and prominently in Xiaomi, thus avoiding that the icons change position or that we are disordered without notice. We only have to avoid these restrictions a few seconds to place our widget where we want and later we can lock it again. This will be done in the following way:

  • We pinch the screen.
  • We choose Settings.
  • Inside we have to uncheck the option ‘Lock Home Screen design’.
  • Now we go back and in Widgets we choose and place the one we want.
  • To not change the position of this tool or icons, we return to lock the design with these steps.

Change the smartphone launcher

In other cases, there are many users who have found that the launcher or default launcher of their phones was the one that prevented them from adding or using widgets on their Android smartphones. For this reason, it is a good idea to test if with another app that is responsible for this function of our mobile we can make them work normally again. At least until the manufacturer releases an update that puts an end to this error. To change it, the steps are really simple and fast so it will take us just a few seconds. The most ‘complicated’ will be to choose the launcher that best suits our tastes, so here we leave two fairly well-known options: Nova Launcher

Once you have installed it on the Android device, you must go to Settings > Applications and notifications > Default apps. Within this section, you will tap on the Startup App option and select the new software that you have just downloaded to replace the launcher that comes by default. When you have changed it, we will only test if the widgets work well on mobile.

And if all else fails?

When we have done all the above methods to try to end the problems of widgets on Android without success, we have to get down to work and raise the steps we developed. First of all it is important that we have done everything we have excited and for you to check that you have not skipped any process are mentioned here:

  • Update the app in which this home panel tool is failing.
  • Restart the mobile.
  • Configure the widget from the app.
  • Add a new home tab.
  • Resize the size of these elements.
  • Check that the screen is not locked.

The final process after having checked all that is to return the app that is giving us failures to the original state, which consists of deleting its internal cache. This will not affect the phone memory, but it can close the session or cause us to have to reconfigure the app. The steps to follow are as follows:

  1. We enter the Android settings.
  2. We access the applications.
  3. We click on the apps of widgets that have errors in Android.
  4. We enter the Storage section.
  5. We choose clear cache and then also deletes the data.
  6. We exit and go back to the app to configure it.

Once we have done all these steps, we will only have to try to place the widget and it should work without any problem. In case we still have the problem, as we mentioned before, it could be a problem of the developer who is having bugs with their own software, so we can report it in the comments of Google Play to try to fix it with an update.
