One of the biggest inconveniences for many users in their cell phones occurs when the screen turns on when receiving notifications . An option that, in some phones is disabled by default, but in many others it is enabled. Where is the problem? Mostly because it causes that, even if we do not touch the terminal, when we get a message or notification from any app, the panel wakes up. Something that, for some, will be great to find out at all times of all the notices they are receiving. However, for others it will be an unnecessary battery drain at all times. But in many ways this will depend on the tastes of each user, if we prefer to activate the screen with notifications or not, but nevertheless we must take into account several things that happen in our mobile to have the option enabled.
A better possibility may be the Always on Display mode, although not all smartphones integrate it. In any case, we will tell you how to disable this feature on your iPhone or Android. Although, if you enable the Do Not Disturb mode, you will be getting it in the fastest way, but it is clear that it is a short-term solution.
Is it bad to turn it on?
There are no serious drawbacks for which we decide to stop having the screen activated with each notification, although there are small buts that can encourage us to remove the option. All these reasons are the following, which you will have to put on a scale to choose whether you prefer to enable or disable it.
The first and most important is that when the screen is turned on continuously consumes more battery and in turn, is causing a drain on it. In addition, this will eventually take its toll. Nobody wants to have to recharge their smartphone more than once a day, and much less because of notifications lighting up the phone’s display. On the other hand, it can also be annoying that the panel lights up completely in the dark.
How to remove it on Android
By default, on phones that have the Google operating system without any customization layer, the option is very simple and is not usually activated as standard. So you should not worry. However, in some cases we may run into this or have configured it this way by mistake without realizing it at the time. Therefore, once we are determined to change it, we will only have to do the following:
- We access the Android mobile Settings.
- We touch on the Display section.
- Now we look for the lock panel option.
- And finally we deactivate the option called Enable screen if there are notifications.
In the layers of Xiaomi, Huawei and Samsung
The Xiaomi brand is one of the manufacturers that for years had activated by default the option to wake the panel with alerts, although it has gradually been changing in MIUI 12. To modify it in our smartphone, we will only have to go into Settings > Lock screen and uncheck the option Enable lock display for notifications. Something quick and simple that has changed in recent times. Another manufacturer that from the beginning usually turn on the screen with each notification is Huawei, although we will also be able to disable it with a quick option in all versions of EMUI. In this chaos just go into Settings > Notifications > More notification settings and we have an option that affects the entire system to Enable or disable the panel. By default on Samsung phones with One UI there is no option that causes the touch turn on when receiving notifications, which is a reason for joy so that we do not have the problems mentioned. However, yes they will appear on the Always on Display screen that is present in so many Samsung smartphones and more and more. If we want to remove notifications from the Always On Display screen of our Samsung mobile, we just have to do these steps:
- Enter Settings.
- Click on Notifications.
- Disable the option Show on Always on Display.
In other Android phones
In the rest of the Android phones as is the case of Motorola smartphones, LG, Vivo or Realme, this option is not activated by default and in many of them there is also no option to activate the screen with each notification. However, in other customization layers is being added, but remove it is as simple as we have seen in the first step. We can also choose to write within the Settings in the search bar activate screen and we will get directly the option we are looking for.
Disable it on the iPhone
Within Apple smartphones the thing will be much simpler, since they all share the same operating system interface, that is, it does not happen as in Android that we can find different layers of customization. Therefore, the steps we must follow can be applied on any iPhone . As we said, the battery consumption by the screen is one of the elements that every user wants to ‘cut’ root. Basically, because no one wants the smartphone to run out of battery without using it, and all because the touch panel is constantly activated when we receive a notification. Although, there is a drawback that does not happen in Android, and is that we will have to disable it in each of the apps we want. That is, we do not have a special setting that does it at once. Therefore, to disable this setting on our iPhone, it will be as simple as following this process:
- Enter the phone settings.
- Click on the Notifications section.
- Enter an app that you do not want to turn on the display when you get messages.
- Choose only the option of Notification Center.
What we will obtain with this option is that the alerts of that application will begin to appear only in the Notification Center, but not in the blocked panel. This means that they will not emit any sound or show strips or balloons on the icons, plus the iPhone screen will not light up. Basically, and if we pay attention once we return to the previous menu, we will see that appears Notify discreetly. In this way, we will continue to allow us to arrive, but not to light up the display of the Apple phone.
If you do not want the panel to light up constantly with every message you receive, you can try to use the notification LED that we can still find on some smartphones. But, if this is not your case, you can manage to get it in an ‘artificial’ way. In this way, you will save a lot of energy, since the phone display will not light up every few seconds. Therefore, we recommend the following app:
When we have it installed on the mobile, we can start configuring it. First, we must give it all the necessary permissions and then we can go to the last tab, from where we can configure various aspects of the LED, among which we find the position in which the screen is located. However, you should also check if your smartphone has a function to only light up the edges of the panel, instead of the entire screen. Some layers such as ColorOS or One UI, bring this tool as standard, so we encourage you first to try the previous app, and then to investigate if your smartphone has a tool to illuminate the edges.
