Apple simplifies the update of applications on an iPhone. It is now possible to choose which apps to update first. This new feature will allow iPhone owners to download the applications they need the fastest. This should delight all those who own more than a dozen apps.
Prioritize app update downloads in iOS
Simultaneous app update makes iPhone management much easier. Once the process is launched, the iOS system takes care of downloading and installing the latest versions of all the applications on your smartphone.
On the other hand, this mechanism is particularly long. Even more annoying, the system chooses for you which applications it will download first. If you have a lot of apps or games, this could take forever.
What’s more frustrating than not being able to launch an application stuck in the download queue. To avoid this inconvenience, Apple has just launched a new feature that allows you to prioritize the updates of your applications.
You will be able to ask your iPhone to update your email application, your GPS navigation system or your favorite social network. Attention this device is for the moment reserved to iPhones with 3D Touch, namely iPhone 6S and higher.
Give priority to the download of certain applications
To avoid waiting for the end of the updates to launch the application of your choice, we will now see how to prioritize the downloads on an iPhone. This procedure will put the most important applications at the top of the queue.
- Open the App Store on your iPhone
- Click on the avatar icon
- Select the menu item update everything to start downloads
- Close Apple’s app store
- Go back to your iPhone’s home screen
- Long-press the app that you want to download as a priority
- A contextual menu will open
- Choose the option to give priority to the download of the application
- Repeat the same procedure for all the applications that seem to you to have priority
The download of your application will start as soon as the installation in progress has ended. Note that the 3D Touch menu also offers you the possibility to suspend or pause an update. This can be very useful especially when an application refuses to launch.
